World Environment Day 2009
The 5th of June was World Environment Day 2009! This event has been organised on the same day each year since 1972 by the United Nations Environment Programme, and more than 100 countries around the world participated this year. This year's event was hosted in Mexico with the slogan "Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change".
World Environment Day (WED) aims to give a face to environmental issues and encourage people to get involved! This year WED has organised a global tree planting event, check out their web-site for more information on which countries and cities have got involved and how.
